Anguilla : When to go

Climate

Anguilla is a perfect holiday escape all year round as there is generally very little variation in temperature and trade winds provide a gentle breeze. As the island is small and relatively flat, the climate is fairly constant across the island.
The average temperature ranges between 26 - 29°C, with the hottest months being July to November when there is also a greater chance of rain. Rainfall is minimal though and usually comes in the form of a short downpour or thunderstorm, with the average annual rainfall only being about 35 inches. June to November is also hurricane season, but it is rare that hurricanes hit the island.

Similar to most Caribbean islands, peak season in Anguilla is December to April as this is the driest time of year, avoiding hurricanes and humidity. Prices are a lot cheaper in low season with plenty of special offers available. so it is certainly worth considering travelling outside of the peak period, although some hotels do close in certain months - ask our travel specialists for more information.

Events

Moonsplash Festival (March/April): A reggae music festival taking place over a weekend at a beach bar in Rendezvous Bay, with performances from local musicians and other Caribbean artists.

Festival del Mar (March/April): Taking place in Island Harbour over Easter weekend, this is a celebration of Anguilla’s seafaring heritage. There are two days of live music, boat racing and deep sea fishing competitions, as well as plenty of opportunities to sample seafood and other local specialities.

Anguilla Regatta (mid May): One of the best sailing regattas in the Caribbean thanks to the exciting race courses and challenging wind conditions.

Anguilla Lit Fest (mid May): A celebration of Anguilla’s literary heritage, with talks by authors and evening entertainment taking place over four days.

Anguilla Day (30 May): A celebration of Anguilla’s independence, with parades and boat races.

Anguilla Summer Festival (late July - early August): A carnival with boat racing, pageants and musical performances.
