Fort Young Hotel & Dive Resort

Fort Young Hotel & Dive Resort on the southwest coast of Dominica is a waterfront hotel that unites luxury and history. The hotel blends the features of a historic fort dating back to 1699 with modern amenities, exclusive dining experiences and expanded dive operations. Located in the small, French-style capital of Roseau, it is ideal as a base for families, couples and those seeking to explore the ‘Nature Island’.

Blending history with contemporary designs

Fort Young Hotel offers 100 rooms and suites that boast contemporary style and design, whilst reflecting the rich history of the property. Many rooms and suites offer stunning ocean views, whilst some face towards the island's lush, mountainous interior. Rooms are split between the original building, and a newly constructed section set just behind.

Dining options in and around the hotel

Due to Fort Young’s location in Roseau, guests are spoiled for choice when it comes to dining options both in and around the hotel. There are plenty of local restaurants to try, whilst the hotel offers an elegant restaurant with panoramic waterfront views where guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is also a unique cafe which is embedded into the old fort and serves Dominican coffee along with freshly baked pastries - definitely not something to be missed during your stay!

Explore Dominica

Fort Young works really well as a base for exploring Dominica. Whether you want to snorkel the famous Champagne Reef, visit spectacular waterfalls or hike to the Boiling Lake, the hotel will be able to assist with arranging excursions. Whale watching trips are also popular, and with its own fully equipped dive centre and boats, Fort Young is a popular option for keen divers. Guests can easily explore Roseau on foot, reaching the city's historic French quarter in around 10 minutes as well as botanical gardens and nature trails.

Our opinion

Fort Young is an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful island of Dominica. Its location near Roseau means that you are near the quay for whale watching trips, and it is only a short drive to several of the waterfalls. I loved the style and décor of the rooms - my room was very spacious and the bed was incredibly comfortable.
