Coral Reef Club in Barbados is a five star hotel that has been run by the same family since it was built in the 1950s. The beachfront property is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and is a true gem of the platinum west coast. For lovers of literature, it is also the inspiration for and the filming location of Agatha Christie's A Caribbean Mystery.
Set in 12 acres of exquisite tropical gardens, Coral Reef Club has 88 rooms, cottages and suites with luxurious and traditionally elegant décor. The majority of rooms and suites overlook the lush gardens, which are one of the highlights of the property for us.
The hotel’s restaurant offers al fresco dining at the water’s edge, with regular entertainment in the evenings. A la carte menus change on a daily basis, specialising in seafood and dishes that combine classical cuisine with Caribbean flavours. Guests who are staying on a half board basis are also invited to dine at Coral Reef Club’s sister hotel, The Sandpiper, subject to availability.
Coral Reef Club is located by an idyllic stretch of white sand in a marine reserve, allowing guests to relax on the loungers or snorkel in peace, away from the sound of motor boats. There are two mosaic-tiled swimming pools tucked away in the hotel grounds, as well as a spa which is housed in an elegant building amidst the gardens. Guests can also enjoy complimentary non-motorised watersports and use of two tennis courts, where regular clinics are offered for those keen to improve their game.
The gardens and communal areas are meticulously maintained by the onsite gardeners. I especially loved the beautiful flowers which add a splash of colour to the gardens. I enjoyed spending time by the swimming pool, which is surrounded by lush vegetation and feels so secluded and peaceful.
Rooms, cottages and suites at Coral Reef Club offer luxurious accommodation that is traditional in style. All accommodations offer air-conditioning, ceiling fan, an in-room safe, hairdryer, CD clock/radio, refrigerator and a furnished balcony and terrace. Rooms feature king size beds, but twin beds are available in certain categories on a request basis.

Children: Children under 12 are not accepted from approx. 20th January - 28th February and children under the age of 5 are not allowed in the restaurant or lounge after 7pm. A family program is available at certain times of year and babysitting is available on request
