The Inn at English Harbour is a favourite amongst Tropic Breeze clients. This exclusive, family-run beachfront hotel located on the southwest coast of Antigua, perfectly positioned on a beautiful wooded headland at the entrance of the historic English Harbour. Set on its own white sand beach within 19 acres of tropical gardens, the resort’s colonial-style buildings are five minutes from the bars, restaurants and boutiques of English Harbour.
Accommodation at The Inn at English Harbour provides a blend of history and charm. Stylish Junior Suites and spacious Deluxe Suites feature elegant furnishings and Caribbean-style Louvre doors, leading onto verandas that overlook the manicured gardens. Our personal favourites though are the cottage style Beach Cabanas, which are set directly on the beach and offer a unique and authentic Caribbean seaside experience.
The traditional Stone Bar and Terrace Restaurant in the original house provide a wonderful setting for afternoon tea or for an al fresco, candlelit dinner under the stars. There is also the casual Reef Restaurant, found on the beach by the jetty, offering a lovely spot for breakfast and lunch. The hotel is also within easy reach of the restaurants of English Harbour. It is possible to take a scheduled water taxi to Nelson’s Dockyard, where you can explore the historic dockyard before enjoying lunch overlooking the harbour.
The Inn at English Harbour is a great base for Antigua Race Week (April) and Antigua Boat Show (December), though it is worth booking early for these popular dates! It is also an ideal option for those who would like somewhere tranquil and luxurious to relax, but also have the opportunity to visit some of Antigua’s highlights, such as Nelson’s Dockyard and Shirley Heights.
I was surprised by how close to the beach all of the rooms are, not just the beach cabanas. The rooms were well equipped and felt fresh, whilst still maintaining a traditional feel. I also really liked the pool area, but the highlight of the hotel has to be the staff - they were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you.
All rooms can accommodate two people and feature a refrigerator, tea/coffee making facilities, a bathroom with a shower, direct dial telephone, Wi-Fi internet access, a safe, cable flat screen TV, iPod docking station, alarm clock, beach towels and a hair dryer. All rooms are air conditioned and have a ceiling fan.
