Our travel specialist, Jessica, has just returned from St Lucia, a magical island renowned for its iconic volcanic peaks, The Pitons, its lush rainforests and blue-green waters teeming with sea life. During her trip, Jessica visited some of the beautiful resorts we offer but she also had a chance to take part in some of the activities offered on the island. She visited the sulphur springs with their mud baths, ‘flew’ through the rainforest canopy on a zipwire, took a speedboat trip down the coast, and took a Segway tour along a nature trail where the guides shared their knowledge of the surrounding flora and fauna.
Upon arrival in St Lucia Jessica took a helicopter transfer to Castries airport which gave her a bird’s eye view of the island – a memorable experience she definitely recommends if travelling to resorts up on the North West coast. Her first stop was at StolenTime by Rendezvous, an adults only getaway set on a long white sand beach. With three pools, three restaurants and three bars, StolenTime by Rendezvous has plenty of options to keep guests entertained. Jessica received a warm welcome before being escorted to her spacious suite.
Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort was the next place Jessica stayed. Set up on a lush hillside with rooms and villas dotted around, it is reminiscent of a Mediterranean village sweeping down to the beach. Windjammer Landing is an All -Inclusive resort perfect for couples and families alike. Jessica stayed in one of the Oceanpoint Three bedroom Residences, with its fresh decor and stunning views of the beach below.
Having spent the night relaxing at her hotel it was time to explore! Jessica joined the Lucian Style Experiences for a Segway tour, and after careful instruction she was off exploring local trails.
Next stop was East Winds, a boutique hotel set within manicured tropical gardens that lead down to the beach. This exceptional All-Inclusive hotel is a favourite of those seeking a smaller, more intimate style of hotel. Jessica enjoyed a BBQ lunch whilst being entertained by a local steel pan band, giving her the chance to experience the gentle and relaxed ambience that is always to be found at East Winds. Jessica then moved on to Calabash Cove, an adults-only hotel with panoramic views of the Caribbean sea from the minute you enter the sweeping lobby!
No trip to St Lucia is complete without a boat trip along the coast and Jessica had the chance to take such a trip down to the beachfront resort of Anse Chastanet. Each of the 49 rooms at Anse Chastanet are individually designed with sustainability in mind – wood, colourful fabrics and artwork is all locally sourced. Each of the rooms offers spectacular views, either out across the estate to the sea beyond or out to the Pitons. It is a hotel that appeals to escapists, romantics and divers. Above Anse Chastanet rests Jade Mountain. With it’s bold architectural design Jade Mountain offers exceptional infinity pool sanctuaries where there is no real need to ever leave your own space!
After a sumptuous lunch at Jade Mountain Jessica headed off to the Rabot Estate where the UK retailer, Hotel Chocolat, offers visitors the chance to make their own chocolate. Jessica found this immersive agri-tourist experience was both fun and informative – as she said ‘ What is not to like about making and eating chocolate! ‘ The trip down south culminated with a visit to the Sulphur springs. Known as the world’s only drive-in volcano, this experience offers one the chance to bathe in the healing mud baths .
After her trip down south Jessica checked into The Landings Resort & Spa. Located on Rodney Bay, one of St Lucia’s most celebrated beaches, this all-villa suite hotel appeals to couples and families alike. Here Jessica was treated to a private dinner in one of the villas, complete with private chef and butler service. A very welcome experience after a busy day.
Jessica went on the next day to visit BodyHoliday, an All-Inclusive hotel with a focus on wellness and fitness, but not to the exclusion of fun! Activities range from archery to windsurfing, tennis to yoga to mention just a very few. A stay at BodyHoliday includes a daily spa treatment, but sadly on this occasion Jessica did not have time to experience all they offer as she was off again. Her next visit was at Cap Maison, an esteemed Relais & Chateaux hotel renowned for both its clifftop restaurant and the ‘Naked Fisherman’, a beachside bar and restaurant down on Smugglers Cove. Jessica thoroughly enjoyed her rum tasting experience in their wine cellar.
Heading back down south Jessica had the chance to visit Sugar Beach, a Viceroy Resort. It is dramatically situated between the Petit and Gros Piton mountains. Jessica was particularly impressed with the level of service and attention to detail, but also by the resort’s fine artwork collection which even includes a Banksy!
