When travelling to the Seychelles, why limit yourself to one Island? The islands all have a unique appeal and thanks to excellent connectivity between them, the Seychelles lends itself perfectly to an island-hopping itinerary. Two or three different islands can easily be combined in one trip, but if you prefer to stay on just one island, it is also worth bearing in mind that smaller islands can often be visited as a day trip from both Mahé and Praslin Island!
These island-hopping itineraries allow you to discover the natural beauty of the islands of Mahé, Praslin and La Digue. Mahé is the largest island and the main gateway to the Seychelles, with all international flights from the UK arriving here. It is home to the country’s capital, Victoria, and the stunning Morne Seychellois National Park, with its lush tropical vegetation and sensational views.
With so much to see and do here, we would recommend spending at least a few days on Mahé before moving on to another island. Praslin is the second largest island of the Seychelles archipelago, but even so the island’s population is no larger than that of a small town by European standards! Its coastline is home to the breathtakingly beautiful beaches that draw so many visitors to the Seychelles and the spectacular scenery continues inland, where tropical jungles are home to a host of rare birds and plants.
Mahé and Praslin Island work well as a twin centre holiday, but for a true island-hopping experience, why not include the beautiful island of La Digue? There are good ferry connections from both Mahé and Praslin, making it easy to spend a few nights here in between stays on the two larger islands. La Digue is an intimate island where the primary mode of transport is by bicycle, and it is home to some exceptional natural beauty. The island boasts rugged and often deserted beaches, as well as a vibrant nature reserve that can be explored via scenic hiking trails.
