ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation is spacious and extremely comfortable, comprising suites with a private balcony or a beachfront garden as well as spacious hillside villas with private pools. Sumptuous one and two bedroom suites boast elegant bedrooms, light-filled living areas, airy covered terraces, walk-in wardrobes, huge marble bathrooms and luxurious touches including mirror TVs, sliding mirror walls and tablets to manage all aspects of their stay.
FOOD & DRINK
Dining options at the resort include a Mediterranean-style café, a pool bar serving a fusion of Japanese-Peruvian cuisine and two fine dining restaurants offering Europe and Pan Asian dishes with private rooms available for special occasions. A Hamptons-style bar offers a large drinks menu, while the swim-up bar allows guests to enjoy a cocktail while taking a dip in the pool. Restaurants are open seasonally on a rotating schedule, with additional options found across the Grenadines Estate including a beach club and a bistro overlooking the golf course.
LEISURE FACILITIES
Guests can spend their days doing as much or as little as they please… those who wish to simply chill out can relax in a cabana by the large infinity pool, take a dip and enjoy a cocktail at the swim-up bar or stroll along the powdery white sands in front of the hotel. The spa is a calm retreat where treatment rooms are tucked away up the hillside, while guided yoga and meditation classes are held on a seafront platform.
Guests who want to stay active can take part in a range of water sports such as Hobie Cat sailing, windsurfing and kayaking, while a few minutes away there is a tennis centre with three floodlit courts. Canouan is also home to the only championship 18-hole golf course in the Grenadines, a par-72 Jim Fazio-designed course offering spectacular panoramic views over the surrounding islands.
FAMILY FACILITIES
Mandarin Oriental Canouan is fantastic for families, with all suites accommodating at least two adults and two children and one child aged 12 years and under staying free of charge when sharing with an adult. The Pirates of Canouan Kids Club is a fantastic facility which is set a few minutes away from the main hotel and is complimentary for youngsters aged 3 years and above. There is plenty of space indoors for arts and crafts, cooking, music and much more, while outside there is a large play area and two swimming pools, one for small children with water slides and the other also suitable for adults.
The island
Canouan, meaning ‘the island of tortoises’ is a beautiful destination with lush green hills and spectacular beaches, surrounded by turquoise seas and a coral reef just off shore. Most of the island is part of the 1200 acre Canouan Estate, itself home to the Mandarin Oriental resort, a collection of villas and the golf course. Guests at Mandarin Oriental Canouan are encouraged to explore the island by golf cart (complimentary with stays in Two and Three Bedroom Villas or available for hire by guests staying in suites) – just watch out for the tortoises that roam freely!
