Heidi Klein is a luxury beachwear brand which is known for creating stylish and flattering swimwear pieces which draw inspiration from around the world, perfect for a tropical holiday.
The company has a fantastic connection to the Caribbean, with a boutique at Marigot Bay Resort & Marina in St Lucia and pieces available to purchase at the luxurious Carlisle Bay resort – the latter is also where one of Heidi Klein’s most recent swimwear campaigns was shot, as well as on board a Dream Yacht Charters yacht just off the coast of Antigua.
We spoke to co-founder and creative director Heidi Gosman to find out more about the company’s swimwear and her love of the Tropics!
What inspired you to start creating swimwear?
My business partner (Penny Klein) and I noticed a gap in the market – there was a real struggle to find a holiday wardrobe outside of the typical summer months. It wasn’t fun or enjoyable, which is why we decided to reinvent swimwear shopping. Our aim is for customers to look and feel gorgeous on holiday, all under one roof.
Where does Heidi Klein design their products and where are they made?
Design is done in-house, and we produce globally. Half of our production is made in Europe (Spain and Portugal) and the other half in the far east/India (Sri Lanka, India and China). We endeavour to build deep rooted relationships with our manufacturing partners. We take Corporate Social Responsibility seriously, with all of our factories have been visited by our production team.
Can you give us some tips on how to stop swimwear losing it’s shape?
Using a washing machine can wear out the swim piece and cause a loss of shape. Ensure you hand wash immediately after wear in cold water, as this will stop shape loss and also get rid of any chemicals and chlorine. Once washed, lie flat to dry and never ever tumble dry.
What is it that you particularly like about the Caribbean? Do you have a favourite island?
The Caribbean will always be one of my favourite holiday destinations. The waters are crystal clear, and the beaches are stretched with golden sand. We tend to go during the winter, so it’s guaranteed sun. My favourite islands would have to be St Lucia, where we have a store and Antigua, where we shot our last campaign!
You have also spent time in the Maldives – why do you recommend going there for a holiday?
The Maldives is complete and utter bliss. It’s the perfect destination for a relaxing, tranquil holiday. I’ve been with the family quite a few times and the children absolutely love it – there’s just so much for them to do there.
