Nevis is one of the most unspoilt islands in the Caribbean and offers some amazing food, with a great mix of both hotel and local dining options available – whatever your tastes, you won’t be disappointed and we have picked the best places to eat in Nevis. Accompanied by a different variation on a rum punch wherever you go, you will be in for a real treat!
No holiday in Nevis is complete without a visit to Sunshine’s Beach Bar, the home of the Killer Bee rum punch. Located on the beautiful Pinney’s Beach, food here is simple but tasty offering the best grilled jumbo prawns (expertly marinated in Sunshine’s secret spicy sauce) I’ve ever tasted. Friday nights is the night for liming here at Pinney’s Beach so get down early for some live music accompanied by a great atmosphere – just don’t have too many of those Killer Bee’s….!
If it’s views you’re after, head to the hills of the Hamilton Estate and dine at Bananas. Come early for dinner to enjoy the sunset from the Firefly lounge whilst relaxing with a house cocktail ‘Bertini’ – delicious. The views down to the sea are to die for! Caribbean specialities such as salt fish and johnny cakes, and the local ‘goat’ water (much tastier than it sounds) are on the menu and well worth a try. The ambience at this quirky little restaurant is great, whether you are looking for a romantic dinner for two, or a night out with friends Banana’s is the perfect place to relax and enjoy.
If fine dining is your thing, head to the Relais and Chateaux Montpelier Plantation and Beach and enjoy an evening at Restaurant 750. Here you can enjoy a blend of French and Caribbean cuisine with the emphasis on fresh, innovative food using local organic produce wherever possible, accompanied by the perfect wine chosen specially by the sommelier from the well stocked cellar. An elegant evening awaits, with drinks and canapes served in the lounge before heading out to the terrace to enjoy a gastronomic delight enjoying views of St Kitts and Charlestown in the distance. Or why not splash out and enjoy a private dinner in the Mill Privee, a unique experience in this 300 year old sugar mill converted in to the only restaurant of it’s kind in the world. A truly magical setting for that once in a lifetime moment to be remembered forever.
If you still enjoy hotel dining but on a more relaxed scale, why not head to Nisbet Plantation for their Thursday night beach BBQ at Coconuts. Following the manager’s cocktail party hotel guests, locals and Nevis visitors mix together to enjoy the surf and turf Caribbean style beachfront buffet before dancing the night away to the sounds of a local band. Kick off your shoes, relax and have fun under the stars!
