Angsana Ihuru

Angsana Ihuru is located on Ihuru Island in the North Male Atoll, the Island is surrounded by an expansive house reef with a dedicated house reef conservation project in place. Angsana Ihuru offers a range of diving locations around the Island from Lankan Manta Point to the deeper waters of Hulhangu Kandu where small schools of white tip or black tip sharks congregate. An experienced dive school is on hand for any further training you may require.

Angsana Ihuru has concentrated it’s house reef conservation on creating an ecosystem and marine conservation program protecting their reef and the surrounding area’s in order to help maintain and develop the sustainability of the underwater life in the Maldives.

Resident Marine biologists oversee the program which includes 3 primary functions;

  • A house reef cleaning team.
  • The barnacle project- a steel structure which is covered in live coral helping to ensure sustainability of coral due to the rising sea temperature.
  • The research of green sea turtles and hawksbill turtles-where the marine biologists’ close off sections of the beach to allowing nesting. They then raise the hatchling’s in pens within the lagoon before tagging and releasing them to monitor their movements and natural life cycles.

Cocoa Island by COMO is a small, pristine and exclusive Island with just 33 water villa’s giving direct access to the abundant house reef.
